 Welcome to [info]barkinland !

I'm partly friends only, which means all my fandom stuff goes outside, and all my personal stuff stays inside! Funny how that sounds disgusting.

I'm a fan of Supernatural, Glee, Doctor Who, Merlin, and all things cracky and pretty.

My J11 list in in my profile. Memorize it well, because I constantly make reference.

If you want me for my writing, you can visit [info]sitrow . I update it about once every half century.
If you want me for my (seriously delayed) spillcaps, that journal is [info]spillindabeans .

I decided to make this meme a sticky, so that whenever I get a new friend or something, they can add to it!

I want to have a complete soundtrack with one song from each of my friends. I'm going to upload them to my iPod and make a "F'list Soundtrack" playlist with notes of what songs belongs to who. It can be your favorite song in the whole world, a recent favorite or just a song that you think really identifies you. If you can't upload your song, just post the artist and name, and I'll download it myself.

Stealing this from [info]whirlygigged so I'll have something to talk about. Because my life is boring.

30 Days )

Day 1
My favorite song. Well, this is hard. I have my top five favorite artists, and favorite songs out of those artists, but it's terrible trying to pick one out of all of them. I could go with my stand-by, even though I'm not sure it's valid anymore? Oh well, it's an excellent song anyway, so I'm sharing it with you.

Okay, I'm really lazy, so I'm linking the already uploaded entire album. But my favorite
song is "Across The Universe".

Let It Be...Naked

That is not full, that is adorkable.

So the story behind this, and mind that I'm completely making it up, is that Micky is telling some outrageous joke, and Keith was acting it out, but fell on his leg badly. And Ringo is kind of just standing around and laughing because he's not used to social interaction outside his friend group.

Also, I love the little belt obsession that's going on in the photo.

P.S. OMG I LOVE THIS PHOTO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH.

So despite not really watching or giving any credit to the Grammy's...I'm kind of excited that Jason Mraz won for "Make It Mine".

I'm going to go watch his acceptance speech.

Weekend Update
It's old school SNL and Jane Curtain. What's not to like? The first time I saw this sketch I was on my sides laughing my ass off.

2.
Circle of Life, AtU
Oh Across the Universe ♥ I don't know why I don't have more icons of this movie, but the whole film is just so beautiful. There really isn't any plot but the cinematography more than makes up for it (not to mention the music and *coughJimandJoecough*). I ship Jude/Lucy so hard.

3.
Where's Cardiff?, DW
Cause who wants to be in bloody Norway?

4.
Peter Rabbit, The Monkees
This is my happy place icon. Peter is so adorable and cute, and though I know he's just acting, and he got kind of frustrated with how people kept mistaking him for his character...I still love him. I just want to hug him and pat him on the head and tell him he can wear the bunny suit if he wants to because he's a special snowflake.

5.
Brick, Brick
BRIIIIIICK. If you weren't aware of one of the main reasons why I'm so goddamn obsessed with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, GO WATCH THIS MOVIE. Seriously, it's one of the first movies I watched where the stylization and writing just completely blew me away.

B)Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one reason why I like you. Then re-post this and spread the love.

C) Step 1: Put your MP3 player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 15 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google, Last.FM, or any other search engine is CHEATING!

Basically, there's this film. And it's a rom-com. I'm not totally opposed to rom-coms, but this looks like the Hollywood brand that's going to make me leave the theater fuming and mad at gender issues and crappy writing and plotholes. But....

Kristen Bell is in it.
And so is Lee Pace. (BTW, why would anyone ever break up with Lee Pace? Or Kristen Bell, for that reason. UNREALISTIC.)
With a new Jason Mraz song.

So this film is pretty much plotting against me in order to secure that my ass in one of those red cushiony seats.

A rehashing of memes to come.

This is an interesting story about how I'm totally insane.

Recently, I discovered.... )

P.S. I'm taking a German film class and there are a bunch of people I'm friends with taking it with me. There are six of us and our collective identities include: German history nerds, culture whores/film enthusiasts, Jewish or about-to-be Jewish people, snarky commenters. There is quite a bit of overlap and we all sat in a little group at the back of the class. We watched a movie tonight that dealt with a refugee WWII Jewish family. I'm pretty sure everyone else in the class hated us.

P.S.S. REG! REGINALD FAIRFIELD!
Still creeps into my mind now and then, even today.

ETA: Oh great. Episode 11 of Middleman is apparently infested with OSDW references, so now I have to watch it.

ETA 2: I've decided. I'm not crazy about this show as a college student, but I'm forcing my kids to watch it.

Today in English we're reading this play called "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" by Tom Stoppard. It's basically a "we know school is over but he's something to do" activity, and the play is actually pretty interesting ("Hamlet" turned inside out). Now, my teacher is known in school for his absolute awkwardness and his obsession with sex in literature. I'm not even joking. It's not dangerous or anything, it's just kind of creepy. So I'm reading the part of Rosencrantz, and there's a bit of sexual innuendo going on where he's all "Thirty-eight? Is that part of your...tableaux?" and the teacher stops to point out what's there. AND BEFORE I CAN STOP MYSELF I say "Yeah, like sixty-" AND THEN I COVER MY MOUTH WITH MY HANDS BUT IT WAS TOO LATE BECAUSE HE HAD LATCHED ON AND SAID IT TO THE REST OF THE CLASS AGAIN. GOOD GOD AM I STUPID.

Good times, good times.

I have been so tired lately. Being around so many people all of a sudden is exhausting. I just want them to shut up. Sounds bitchy, but it's really aggravating sometimes.

ANYWAY, that's why I haven't had much to say lately. I've mostly been watching quiz and talk shows, but I did catch the latest of Being Human. More on that later.

What I wanted to ask is: Are there any comms that are devoted solely to talk/game shows? Because although I can watch Conan and Jimmy any time I want, I don't have access to the BBC site so I can't see Catherine Tate on Jonathan Ross (OMG HE'S LEAVING, WUT?) and keep up with Never Mind the Buzzcocks. I'm better about the latter, but the former is really difficult to find. Soooo, if anyone had any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

How is Dianna Agron so pretty? Seriously, it's ridiculous.

Also, on a shallower note, I really love Finn's sweater in "Keep Holding On". Like, really.

One thing I've noticed about the earlier episodes is that they're not as bad as I thought they were when I first watched them. Maybe it's because now I can see that they did have some semblance of where the show was going, or things that it was going to do with the characters (like Tina's fake lisp), but it wasn't apparent until the end of the half-season. And the stuff that they did from episode to episode was way too rushed and didn't feel appropriate. It actually holds up more when you go back, which is strange for a show.

I think a lot of it is also I hated some of their song choices (mostly because I haven't listened to anything on the radio since 2005), so I was always waiting for that great Broadway number, and there weren't any for a number of episodes. I'm not a fan of "Keep Holding On", but in general I loved the numbers in "Throwdown," my favorite being a tie between "Hate On Me" (it grew on me a lot) and "Keep Me Hanging On" (since I'm a full supporter of Quinn/Motown).

Another thing I started noticing is ties between the songs in each episode (Keep Holding On/Keep Me Hanging On, both versions of Smile) which I REALLY enjoy, because I do that all the time. Although some song choices still baffle me (why have that "Crush" song when it could have been Mandy Moore's "Crush On You"?). It may have to do with legal things, but...yeah, I don't care.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt lost out to Taylor Lautner.

Jason Mraz was passed over for Keith Urban.

My faith in humanity is all but gone.

At least Glee won. It was basically the only reason I was watching, since I don't put much stock in awards shows. I just kind of wanted to see them.

That's not a good sign, is it?

I should start watching interviews..

P.S. Jared is getting married? Alright, dude, but don't say fandom didn't warn you.

Are we absolutely certain that the Glee cast twitter accounts are valid? Because they're not certified. I want proof of purchase.

Also, my dear friend [info]safebehindteeth linked me to two of the greatest things ever. This and this mean that I will never again lack for the lulz. The first one is now my background.

For all the friends I may or may not make (I'm still waiting to hear back from some of you), howdy! I'm kind of just getting back to posting on LJ since Twitter took over my life, but I've been here for a while. My profile says a lot about my favorite movies, shows and people men. I'm currently in a musical phase, which means lots of Glee, Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland pictures and humming while I walk. Enjoy it, one day I'll go back to comics book heroes and wanting to see things blown up.

I went to see "Princess and the Frog" today, and, well. Okay. )

And just because I've been collecting Glee gifs and re-watched Sectionals:
